carter pump and holley regulator on stock carb: now have problems

carter pump and holley regulator on stock carb: now have problems

ok me and a friend of mine were building a rx7 for circle track and he brought a carter 5 psi fuel pump and a holley regulator and the stock carb flood out as soon i hit the fuel pump swich and shut the engine off. i adjusted the pressure and everything and still doit. the carb i think is mod but the guy that my friend brought the engine said he used the same pump and regulator so i dont know whats going on. any ideas what could happening? thanks for the help

Do you have a decent fuel pressure gauge hooked up? There are 2 versions of the Holley fpr, a 1-4 psi and a 4.5 to 9 psi. Are you running the return line? If it is hooked up, thake the silver barrel in the return line and reverse it, that will block off the return.

If none of that works, check for a stuck needle and seat. If the level in the bowl sight windows is above the center of the window, that is a good indication that either the pressure is too high, or more likely a stuck needle and seat.

Make sure you are adjusting the FPR the right way, it's kind of counter intuitive if it's like mine. Tightening the set screw results in HIGHER pressure, loosening the set screw makes the pressure lower...
