Arrow Carpet color help!

OK guys so here is my dilemma I bought an original carpet off of eBay from a 1980 fb or sa w/e for my gslse. The carpet is in mint condition almost new but its the wrong shade of red. The guy described the carpet as maroon when it actually was a very dark wine color. By the time i notice the difference in color it was too late to return it. So i need some advice. Is it possible to paint it, has any one ever tried this before and what kind of paint did you use. Or should i just sell it and buy one of those crappy aftermarket ones. The reason i decided to put in a new one was because the previous owner installed one of the crappy aftermarket one and did some crazy hack job installing it.

Thanks for any help

my whole interior used to be maroon. i bought some rit die and died my front carpet black. i promise you you can not tell. if someone looked at it, they would say its black and always has been haha. just make sure the water is HOT as in almost boiling, and use way more die that the bottles say. i think i used double, and let it sit in the die for almost a day. lemme know if you need any help, if you try it.

Thanks. I don't think dye is gonna work because I am going from a darker color to light. I also tryed bleaching alittle part of it and it doesn't bleach. Ahhhhh I think I'm stuck with it. I'm looking at stock interiors to see if I can find a match

Sell it, paint won't work in this situation.

just make sure you wash out the excess dye before you put it back in, you would hate for anything wet that touches the carpet to come off a nice shade of grey
