Carerra 4 S vs. 81 FB

Got into a little 1/4 mile thing with a Porche Carerra 4 S last night on the way home from work. Got me by 3-4 cars. I was impressed by my car, keeping up with a newer Porche. I'd guess a 00-02 Carerra.

Anyways, the mods:

Mild SP, RB SP Holley setup, dying holley red pump, RB Sp exhaust.

Sorry, but this is complete BS!!!!

My neighbor has a Carerra S4, and I have driven it extensively.
Even my car has to be running right to win.

It took a Datsun 1600 (P510) for you guys with 240rwkw (320rwhp) to slightly outrun a Porshce GT3 in a straight line.

Now that doesn't translate exactly, but...

The Datto would weigh in similar to the 7, and the GT3 is faster than a Carrera 4 so knock a few Kw's off to take that into account.

No chance! The porsche probably wasn't trying too hard.

To a porsche, he'd loose by like 7-9 carlengths easily. I love the 7, but unless you have some major power under the hood, its not likely you would even come close to a newer porsche. If it was an older late 60's to early 70's 911, then sure, I might believe it. But this seems like totaly BS to me.

A 2002 Carrera 4 non turbo can go 0-60mph in under 5 seconds according to Car and Driver. a 911 turbo goes 0-60 in under 4 sec. A stock FB with 12A will go 0-60 in 10 seconds or slower (depending on mileage). A slightly modded FB with 12A (exhaust and some other cheap mods) will do 0-60 in, at fastest, 8 seconds. Streetported 12A with all bolt-ons will do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds if you can find the grip. Point is, the only way you would catch a newer Porsche 911 is to have a P-Port engine or a turbocharged engine making somewhere in the region of 250 hp.

4-5 car lenghts is 2-3 seconds at the top end of a 1/4 mile? It only take me about 4 seconds to go from the 1/8th mile mark to the 1/4 mile mark, and I pick up close to 30mph in that distance.

4-5 car lenghts is more like a tenth or two at the top end, unless they where both going 20mph.

Just my .02

Exactly - 4-5 Carlength, = Maybe .5 second in the 1/4.

Obviously, the original poster has realized that the 1st Gen
crowd is not the 13 year old crowd.
