carburetor jets leaking fuel

i added some 2 stroke oil to the gas since i will be running premix, and then i figured before i start up the motor i should run the fuel pump for a few minutes to circulate the mix, but then i noticed that there was fuel dripping from one of the jets on the primaries....wtf?. now i know this carb probably needs rebuild, as it sat for at least 2 years, and it has other issues, but is this really bad? if so, how bad???? im hoping to be able to drive the car with this fubared carb for a little while until i get it rebuilt

opinions? suggestions?

it is probubly one of 3 things. you may have some trash stuck in the float valve. you may be able to wash it out if you get the car started and after it is running pinch off the fuel line and let the car run out of gas. you can then unpinch the fuel line and let the carb bowls fill back up. sometimes this will wash out any crap stuck in the float valve. the other thing it could be is the floats are adjusted wrong. this is probubly not the problem if you have never taken the carb apart.
and last but not least the floats may be sinking or full of fuel. this is very common on these carbs. every carbed rx7 i get i order a rebuild kit and new floats almost fist thing. there is nothing worse that sitting at a stop light and your car cuts off and will not restart. just try the first thing and see how it goes.

a carb rebuild is not very hard. if you have never done one this carb is pretty easy. just dont change any of the adjustments put all the new parts in and most important get everything spotless.

good luck!

okay, so if the float levels are fine (ie the gas is only half way up the window thingies) then the last 2 issues won't be the problem? this carb came with an engine i bought, which sat for 2 years. the carb is completely stripped down, so the only hookups are the fuel lines, brake booster line, and throttle cable. the secondaries are completely stuck whic is another issue. whoever had the carb before did the mechanical secondaries mod, but either screwed it up, or they are just stuck because of sitting. i've sprayed all kinds of carb cleaner, penetrating fluid on the shafts, adn linkages, but no luck. i've tried sticking a screwdrive down the carb and move the secondaries but that doesn't work. i do have a stock nikki unmolested that sat 5 yrs that i might use, but i'd rather stick with my modded carb since i've ditched all my emissions. anyways im just rambling on

sound like you need to take it apart and rebuild it. if you are carefull and don,t get in a hury you wil be very happy with the results. the progressiv secondary mod is a good one and is very easy to figure out. just look at the side of the carb closest to the firewall. with it off the car of course. move the linkage as if the cable was pulling on it. there is apiece of linkage you wire tie to the secondaries. you will figure it out.
