which carburator is worth the money? or should i just get the weber manifold & racing beat exhaust system. plus would i have to upgrade the fuel pump on these mods?

it all depends on what you seek. my advice would be start with the exhaust, then figure out where you want to go from there ...

well im looking for a lil more juice from this 12A motor. i like the power now. but i wanna upgrade the ignition & all to it. however, this engine has over 150k miles which is the first i have seen. but this is also my first rotary engine car. maybe if i could get at least 120-150 hp ill be fine

well, the right exhaust system will give you the lion's share of your goal. RB all the way! upgrade your fuel system and make a few mods to the Nikki and i'm sure you can close in on 140 HP ... i know you can exceed 140, but that would require more elaborate working and tuning of the Nikki. as far as ignition goes ... leave it for last, and don't do too much unless you're planning to go for a LOT more power. as far as i'm concerned, as long as everything is working well, don't replace anything (coils, etc) unless it dies. just get some decent plug wires, advance your timing a couple degrees, and make sure you always have a good cap and rotor - you should be straight.

With a modified Nikki carb, a good header and K&N air filter my 12a was dynoed at 128 rwhp which is about 150 at the flywheel. At this level of output the stock fuel pump copes as long as the fuel filter is not clogged.

Until the header/exhaust system is upgraded, any carb modification is a waste of money.

I'll let you in on a little secret, a modified RX2 carb works fantastic, and can be set up for 13B as well. I've already said too much... -WG

rx2 would be rotary export 2nd attempt Old car.. Good luck finding one in a workable condition.. Id vote for doing an exhaust first and then worry about the carb... You can only take gas in as fast as you can get it out. First things first...

You already have the right advice. Fix the header exhaust system first and drop in the K&N flter and clean the existing carb without stripping it down.

Paul Yaw knows what he is doing and wll build you a 100% carb. But many rotary tuners can produce a similar result by modifying your existing Nikki carb. It will save you much time and money getting it done locally!

The critical point is the mileage on your engine. You are right in not seeking more than 140bhp- that will still give you a 1/4 time in the 15s. More power equals more wear and stress. The header/exhaust mods will get you 120-125 hp and modifications to your carb costing around the $200 mark will get the rest. Read some of the threads on the carb mods, Sterling had some good information.

yeah im trying to learn on this car as much as i can. i know the rotary can gain alot of power with little amounts of money. so i may just do the header & clean out the existing carb to see if that will help with the air flow. another thing i saw was someone mentioning k&n. i checked out some guys site & he made a custom cai for his 7. so i may do that.

I got a question: when you guys all talk about modded nikki's what are you talking about? simple re-jetting? or are you guys doing more involved stuff?
