carboned apex seal.

This may be a stupid question, but why do you only remove and add seafoam/MMO to the leading plug holes and not all 4? If I suspect that I have an apex seal/seals that are not seating properly from carbon, is there any advantage to letting the seals soak for more than one day? I didn't find an answer to this one in the archive threads.

My guess would be because the leading and trailing holes all go to the same place, and because the leading holes are bigger.

Trust me on this one... As long as the car is driveable, then just dump a can into a partial tank of gas and go for a drive. You'll feel the difference immediately, no matter how bad the carbon buildup was.

1. all the plug holes go to the same place, its not a piston engine

2. the hole in the apex seal surface of the housing, on the trailing side is teeny.

Thanks Kent. When you say "a can" you mean seafoam, not MMO, right? Also, can an apex seal stick because of a lack of lubrication and not necessarily carbon?

Right now my OMP is not hooked up. Can I put both seafoam and MMO in the tank?

Yes, I was reffering to Seafoam. And yes, I have used it in conjunction with MMO without issue.

However, if you are adding the MMO due to the lack of an OMP then I would recommend a 2 cycle oil addative rather than MMO. A lot of guys use the MMO instead, but its so much thinner than a good 2 cycle oil that I have my doubts as to how effective it would be for lubrication.

Jeeze, how's that for alphabet soup?

Just to show you the difference between leading and trailling. I think you'll know which one the leading is.

The only reason the trailing plug hole on the inside of the housing is smaller is because of the vast pressure differences between the 2 sides of the rotor.
