Its not a myth Fibermaz still makes them, but they were expensive coming all the way from australia, so noone bought them. I think he said he sold 6 in the US. Notveryhappyjack had one, but it broke. Simply beautiful and I'll be getting one later.

I never said the car isn't good enough. I just don't know if I would like it. I would like to see one installed. I might like it. Especially if some of the interior parts like the stereo surround were done in CF too. Maybe a spoiler. I think the best colors would be white and black. So, how much was he asking for?

Outrageous fees?

It's down to $75.00 a month.

Anyways he was not going to keep pouring out money to be a vendor when all the members here stated that they wanted them and them when it was time to put up the cash, they bailed on him.

FB owners are CHEAP ****'s Everyone said "Oh yeah make this and I will get it" Then when the time rolls around to fork out the cash, its a different story

Why isnt he a vendor on here? He didnt want to pay the outrageous fees of IB?

that's just wrong, but maybe people did not think about how much they really would be.the vendor before making any should have had people order them and pay upfront,if they really wanted one.

i think CF would be good if you had the front nose panels and headlight covers and front fenders in CF.

I don't even think that most of the FB guys who are in the process of burning several thousand to get their cars up to speed will be willing to dump a thousand dollars into CF generally. They can get a lot more performance per $ in other areas before they get to the level of needing CF for the weight reduction. Turbos, suspension, brakes, ECUs/carbs, LSDs, rust cleanup, these all will out gain CF in a dollar/performance check.

The result is that it's only when the owner is willing to dump five-figures into the car to get everything else done that CF becomes a performance priority. Otherwise, CF is just bought for looks.

for fiberglass hood you can get them at http://iscracing.net/ and will cut the weight from stock/35lbs to fiberglass/13lbs. I think that's a good enough a weight cut , carbon fiber hood would probably weigh a mere 3-5 pounds though ( My guess )...

Everybody wanted two types of hoods.
1) Heavy duty Stock replacement, using stock mounting hardware (out of fiberglass would have been fine)
2) Same as Number one - but with a TII hood scoop on it.

He didn't make what everybody wanted.
He insisted on making some reverse hood scoop one (which I did not find appealing),
and a full blown stock CF replacement hood.

The CF is not everyone's taste. I like CF, but for small accessories.
It's also wayy to expensive.

The ISC racing ones are light (fiberglass), but very flimsy - they need hood pins to mount only. T
They don't use any stock hardware. They are a strictly racing piece only.

Well, I went back and looked at all of FIBREMAZ's old threads. I did see the pics of the CF hood mounted and I do kind of like it. Like others have said though, I would put the money towards other things first.

Search guys, Fibremaz is the guy and he has weighs on his posts...and by the way, if carbon fiber is not light why it the only product used to build Formula One cars, and now used for high end brake rotors

That is just ignorant, some of us prefer the 1st gen, I have 2 with extensive amounts of money and modifications done to them. I think you need to look into which generation is reliable and the most fun. I wouldn't swap either of my 1st gens for any 2nd or 3rd.

Your opinion is always welcome but it is only your opinion.

I agree Aussie, I grew up in the FB. I still own my dads FB he drove off the lot back in 1983. I have seen FB's that blow FD's doors off.

I own 2 FB's and wouldnt have it any other way! Granted one of them is TII powered

Standard metal hood is around 15-16kg's, Carbon Fiber hood is approx 5.5kg's.

That was taken from an original post from FIBREMAZ. I think that settles the OEM vs. CF weight argument.

And that is fiberglass with a CF layer on top. Imagine if it were all CF. No one would be able to afford it, but it would be even lighter.

So much hate so little support. You guys have no idea how much money I have lost out trying to achieve something which so few people even bother trying to do.
A TII scopp on a 1st Gen hood is really not doing any favours to the car and as stated you WILL get botter cooling with a reverse vented hood.

$75USD=$110AUD per month to advertise 1 product, that's well over $1000AUD per year..... Ridiculous................

Speak for yourself man. The FC (IMHO) is not as good looking and the FD is too temperamental and neither is as much fun to drive as the FB. When I looked at adding another sports car, I bought a Porsche to go with the FB.
