There are no carbon fiber parts available.

As for fiberglass, if you are talking body kits, there are a few. Try www.mariahmotorsports.com or www.mazdatrix.com . They have a few things.

I don't know about mariah motorsports though. I sent them an email about one of there body kits a week ago and haven't got a reply. They also haven't updated their site for a long time.

were all cranky because there havent been any interesting threads on writeups or turbo swaps.
except the new headlights thread.

Hopefully I will be able to post my recent progress soon.

The only carbon fiber part I know of, is a hood, 7heaven was making a few carbon fiber parts. I think he was making a hood, front vallence and headlight covers. But I cant remember what happened with that.

If you are looking for just a carbon fiber look, then talk to a reputable vinyl guy. I know a guy thats been doing vinyl work for me (for my racing sailboats) and he is comming out with a carbon fiber vinyl that is supposed to look really good. Its acuatlly layered that gives a look of depth, like real carbon fiber.

DirectFreak or Mike P28 (one of the turbo guys at least) had something like this on there dash and it turned out pretty good.

you mean raw carbon fiber.
It is not easy to lay carbon fiber and make it look good and professional.

Its not like fiberglass, where you just brush on resin, throw on some fiber glass, repeat, and sand smooth.

Fiberglass has to be layed in sheets and smoothed.
well, I suppose thats not too hard. How much does raw carbon fiber and resin cost.

i dont know why every one gets there panties in a bunch when they see a thread that is posed that is about a topic discussed 100x over.

i use the search button, it works, but some times you may end up with a list of matches thats 7-10 pages long. and the answer you are looking for is mixed up between the treads.

but any whoo.. fiberglass stuff:

www.mazdatrix.com
www.mariahmotorsports.com

You mean "carbon fiber" has to be laid in sheets. Just so noone gets confused.

Anyways, thafox, making CF doesn't sound like a small task so you better be pretty sure you must have CF.

Here in lies the problem everyone has no patients for new people. All any one does is yell at them and make them feel stupid.

I agree with 81Rex6port13b the search function can be overwhleming...

but that is no excuse not to try.

It is in every ones best interest to be as inviting and accomidating as possible to new members that way there might end up being some interesting threads again...

Perhaps you didn't see the thread in its original form.

Original post: "Is there any carbon fiber out there? Or fiberglass?"

First reply: "me too"

Second reply: something equally worthless

I could do a quick Google search and find all sorts of stuff. I can kinda-sorta understand carpet fiber, it looks neat and is great for the ricer crowd. But fiberglass is kinda pointless, the street grade fiberglass is usually heavier than the stock bodypanels (RX-7 sheetmetal is *very* light and flimsy... I crunched my fender on a snowbank and bent it back to shape with finger pressure) and race grade fiberglass is a little lighter but its main advantage is that it breaks easily. So a little contact on the race course won't result in a bent fender chewing at your tire and causing you to have to pit, which instantly wrecks your chances of placing well at all unless it's a *long* race.
