Unless someone used some sort of glue for gasket sealer, I haven't a clue.

It should just come off if you removed the four nuts. Unless of course it was sealed on with glue as stated before.

If it's some sort of glue-like gasket sealant you're going to need some solvent to weaken it, then a blade to insert like a paint scraper. Try brake cleaner, I use that nasty stuff for everything.

oh and btw... DO NOT USE A HAMMER ON A CARB!!!!!

4 bolts? I hope you mean 4 nuts. You didnt remove the 4 bolts that have a slotted head did you? Thats NOT how you remove the carby.

Good catch Carl. Its four nuts that hold it on, not four bolts...

Thanks TJ. And if you still have the emissions installed, youll need one of these to remove the drivers side rear nut.

Hmmmm, now why didn't I think of that? Technically you don't have to have one of those, I got my carb off and back on (on the GS) just using a regular old combo 12mm.

Didn't have to waste a wrench to pull my carb either. Not a bad idea though, if you're going to be swapping a bunch of carbs.

SO with emissions still on the car how did you get that nut off without a wrench like mine?

Just got the box side of the wrench on there at a bit of an angle and gave it a good pop to losen it, then used the open side to losen it a little bit at a time till it was loose enough to do by hand. It wasn't that bad at all I thought.

Good point, in comparing my 83's engine bay to 85rx7gs's 85 there is more stuff in the way, so its quite possible that you needed a special wrench.

That's exactly what I did, however, I was swapping engines, not just the carb.
