Carb woes
My friend and I began the arduous task of rebuilding my carb tonight, and we have run into difficulties. The car will start with a little encoragement from the throttle, and idle fairly well.
So far so good.
However, if I try to raise the revs, the car runs very rough and shoots flames. I checked the bores, and loe and behold, there's visible gas pooling in both primary and secondary bores. I attempted to check the levels through the sight glass, but I couldn't see a dammed thing because of all the hoses in the way. I'm totally confused as to why it would flood like that, as we set the floats at 16 mm, cleaned all the jets and air bleeds and installed all new gaskets and the float needles and seats.
Any ideas as to what may be wrong would be appreciated.

You must check the float level through the windows. Take the air cleaner housing off if you havn't already. The front is relatively easy to see. Use a small mirror to see the rear one.
Problem could be a stuck float. Remedy is to tap the top of the carb to dislodge it.
Good Luck
