WA Carb ?'s

Ok, I hope I didn't miss a thread that covers this, if so, I apologise in advance. I've had the opportunity to pick up several carbs, but haven't. I'm told carbs have to be modified for a rotary. Sooooooo ............ what is it that has to be modified? I see RB has a holley, and I see Weber and Dellorto and Mikuni carbs out there. What is it on a "normal" carb that has to be modified and why? Thanks for any and all info. Still trying to wrap my mind around the subtleties of a rotary instead of a boinger.

i believe the main thing is to make sure the jets are correct, and that you can get enough fuel, but not too much at the same time, if that makes sense lol, besides having the right intake manifolds designed to fit the carb to the engine, and some of them i think you have to fab your own gas linkage holder besides that

You can make just about any carb of the right size work that they sell an intake for, it is all in the tuning. Also all different carbs have good and bad things about them. So it makes a huge difference where you are going with the car.

Biggest reason is the oil metering pump, which is vital. Of course you can always block off the pump and run premix in the gas.

Thanks all for the responses! If I'm getting this right, I can use any carb that I can mount on the intake, but must tune\jet\ each to optimal settings. Also, if no oil metering is attached, I can still use it but must run pre-mix. I researched Sterlings carbs, and since I'm building 2 7's, one will be a sterling, but I've always been fond of the side draft carbs, so I'm leaning toward a weber or dellorto on the other. One will be a "daily" driver, and one will be a "fast" daily driver. LOL In other words, I know my wife will whine till she appropriates one, and I'll keep the other.

I run a Dellorto on my car and I doubt you're doing this route but I will mention it anyway. If you have a GSL-SE 13B, you need not worry about drilling and hooking up OMP bungs on the carburetor because the SE engine has oil injectors in the housings. I'm running on that setup, but once again it's very unlikely you're in the same position.
