carb question

I just bought a 83 GSL, It had been sitting since 93, got it running but the old gas gunked up everything in the carb. Just wondering how hard a carb rebuild is and if I should take is somewhere and have it dipped or whats the best method of cleaning it out right.

Hi, how handy are you with mechanical repairs? Get at least Haynes manual, or use the online Mazda shop manual to guide you thru the process. And of course, we are always here to help. I would suggest you also clean out the tank, pump and lines as that old gas will mess everything up. Oh and change the fuel filter too.

read all the FAQ on this site, it will help a lot. I messed up my carb because i didn't read enough first. In the FAQ Sterling has some very helpful instructions and tips, also you should read the www.howstuffworks.com on how carburetors work, even if you know how it works i'm sure reading the article is worth your time as howstuffworks.com is very understandable.
