if you have a haynes manual, look on page 78, tells all you need about the pump,,,,you will need to buy a carb kit, it comes with the pump, $20 from the Victoria British catalog, unless you can find the kit at an import parts store in your city,, if you dont have either of these books you can go to library for the haynes and check it out, and to order the catalog you can call 1-800-255-0088 for a free RX7 catalog, good luck....

Be very careful when you remove the clip that retains the pivot pin in place, they like to fly off and get lost. It's a tough one to get at, too.

Yep, you have to remove the carb to get to it... what I'm going to do is save up $200 and get my whole carb rebuilt and tuned for my car. I hate carbs, and I don't want to do a 1/2 assed job myself, so I'll simply let my good ol' mechanic do it for me.

So the problem is what exactly? If they're seperate things whats the problem? White smoke comes out of the exhaust, mechanic says to warm it up till gone. So what needs replacing, everything ? A pump is a pump, a carb a carb. School me here please?

The "accelerator pump" is this little dealie on the side of the carb that is square in shape, has 3 visible screws and a round part in the middle. It's on the passenger side of the carb, kinda low, very hard to get at with tools.

When I pump my gas pedal it leaks a few drops of fuel. It's about the size of... mmmm, a little bigger than a book of matches.

You can order one on mazdatrix.com for like $78 or something. Someone told me there's actually a piece of leather inside that acts as a seal that flaps open and shut... dunno about that though.

Most carb rebuild kits include an accelerator pump diaphragm assembly in the kit. A good rebuild kit shouldn't be more than around $30-$35.

carb problems

Ive been thru the ringer with mech and there diff diagnosis. Seems they all wanna make **** up to fix and charge you your first born for it. Do all mechanics work this way? How much does a rebuilt carb cost if its so lil like u all said to buy.. Some guy wants 400-500 to do this if its the problem? And since the seals are shot and it leaks so much oil is it the problem or is it the tranny.. Never a straight answer.. 23 yr old rx7 that needs a new engine. Is it worth it im not rich. Think Ill just spend the cash and get a newer used ride. Got a family now anyway, my single guys car aint cutn it no more. WHAAAA hate to see it go tho.
