Carb Problem! Help!!!!

Alright so I need to be in Alabama by tomorrow and Im in Indiana... so limited time and money...

anyways

when I turn my key to the on position my carb just starts filling with gas and if I leave it on long enough the secondaries will overflow. Just the other morning it started and ran fine. Then I went out to start it and run to the store, it was filling the car up with gas as long as the key was to the on position.

Any ideas?! Its in pretty good condition. 81 GSL with 116k miles on it.

The only idea I could think of is a fuel check valve.. but I dont even know if that would cause that problem...?

If the carb is flooding, it could be a stuck needle valve. Could also be a bad air vent solenoid. Mine went bad and before I removed it the car flooded really bad.

Yep, David hit the most common causes.

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside. In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs and factory carb manuals. Also in the FAQs are some carb writeups by Sterling that covers most of the trouble shooting issues with the Nikkis.
