welp... you can get a weber carb, a dellrado(sp) carb, a mukuni(sp) carb, or a holly carb.

if our used to the older "muscle" car style carbs go with a holly you can pick them up fairly cheap but manifolds are a wee bit harder to come by used. you might have to get a new one. www.racingbeat.com sells them.

most people on here use weber or dellrado. you can occasionaly find them in the forsale section of this fourm. with a 12a you should go with a weber or dellrado 45 side draft. you can go down draft as well. unless you have a ported motor a 12a should not realy use a 48 that is a bit to big for stock.

you can pick up a weber or a dellrado with manifold for around $450-500. maybe less.

You could, of course, go modified Nikki.

-Why some of you still do not see that as as viable option is beyond me.

I think he's concerned about the rats nest solenoids.

Normally 6-8 weeks is the time I like to use to ensure enough leaway for me. Carl may have a different time schedule, and both our schedules are independant and subject to change.
The holiday week, for example, has tossed a mokey wrench into mine because I had to get other work finished for Christmas (some gold jewelry projects due in November).
I'm currently working on Metallic Rocks carb right now, but he is being kind enough to be a "guinea pig" of sorts for us and is trying some new parts on his carb.
Mar3 has also agreed to some altogether different prototype components, and bouis will be testing out a new "fuel economy mode" gidgit I'm working on.

Carl's working on secret sauces of his own, too.
I have a feeling this summer's gonna be great for giving a new found appreciation for a dirty old stock carburetor!
But these new developments take time to make, get running, tweak, troubleshoot, and give the test of time. This is why we need to ask for patience from customers. We'll be making every effort to get the things out as fast as possible.
But we can't compromise quality for production speed.

I strongly support the option of a well modified Nikki as the best choice for a stockported 12A, and at least equal to the Weber and Holley for a streetport. For a large bridgeport/J port, or PP then the 48 or 51IDA is best if you can't go efi.

You can delete the rats nest if you want as well covered in the tutorial, but the impact is marginal improved performance and certain failure to pass emission regulations in many states.

The traditional Nikki may not look 'so cool' in the engine bay as a Weber, but all the evidence shows it can be modded to produce good power while being streetable.
Look at some of the Yaw data for evidence, while Carl, Pineapple and Sterling are taking it even further. ( No judgement in the order just went alpabetical to cover my bets!)

Stering, have you put any of the modified nikki's on the dyno yet? I'm curious to see what they're dialing in at.
