(carb) Let me get this straight:
Ok, so being that my recent carb rebuild kit was crap and I am not the best at doing it, the car hates me and likes to idle around 2500rpm (first rebuild ever, didnt know it was a bad kit, im traumatized :P), I have gotten a OER 45 and a manifold to bolt it up to. As far as I know, what I need are:
1. All linkages to carb body (its body only)
2. Modify throttle cable
3. Racing beat Fuel Pump (Mallory)
4. Gasket for manifold/block
Now, having searched:
Would the mallory fuel pump and carb be compatable? I also know about the Fuel Pump Regulator, but would I be able to get by without it? The fuel pump has steady 6psi, or am I on the wrong track?
Would I need a gasket for manifold -> carburetor? I am assuming yes, so I am out to get some gasket material.
I have a stockport engine, but the only specifications I could find were for a streetport engine. The OER supplier said they would rejet my carburetor for free before sending it out. This wont drown my engine, will it?
Also having searched, I found that it would be wise to go ahead and get full exhaust done as well. Being as Ebay is my best buddy, I have found a Pace Setters Exhaust header, would this be fine for my car or woudl the tried-and-true RB header be better? come to think of it, I believe they are made by the same company?
I plan on running header only, with straight pipe all the way back for the time being, custom made at an exhaust shop. The pipes will be 2.25" wide and .125" thick walls (the .125" is as thick as the RB headers, so I assume that is adequet). YES this car will be loud.
Now, with a header going on, I will be making OMP block off plate, yes? Would there be anything else needing a blocking or removal? I know the Air pump has to go. I also remember something about coolant in the manifold? Something has to be blocked off there as well?
Along with the rats nest removal, I believe that should put me in the green.
Oh, Car is a 1979 12a, No modifications.
Terribly sorry for the long post, writing all this makes me want to throw in "and they lived happily ever after" somewhere in the bunch
Thanks everyone!

i if you use an aftermarket pump you will need a pressure regulater as well.
those carbs run between 2-4 psi, usually closer to 2.
i would get it going on the stock pump, before dropping all that $$ on the mallory.
i use the stock pump on my dellorto 48 and it runs just fine.

agreed you definately do need a FPR and prefferably a fuel pressure gague to go with it. you should regulate it to about 3.5 or 4 psi for highly modified setups and for stock i would say about 2.5 or 3 PSI.....otherwise you will be dumping a whole shitload of fuel in to it and possibly/probably flooding it. as for the pacesetter header i would personally stay far far FAR away from pacesetter.... the workmanship, reliability, and the power that you want will not come from monza/pacesetter...you would probably be better off with a RB header and exhaust system or the RB exhaust system with SDJ headers and a blockoff plate...
as far as the OMP i believe that is a mod you can do on its own....a header shoudl not require you to remove/modify the OMP if i remember correctly but the air pump shoud definately stay and be run to the cat (if you are going that route)
regardless of what you do to the OMP or exhaust system. i fthere is no cat then you could probably remove it.....

oh yeah...almost forgot...also check the heat tolerance of the header before you buy it if you use something other than SDJ or RB headers....i have heard of a few not holding up to the heat of a rotary engine
