Carb help please.
So my car has been operating on "half power". Having a real hard time going 80mph. stumble off idle. I thought it was a vaccuume leak at first and I think that was part of it. Car wouldn't Idle below 1,500 rpm. I replaced vaccucme caps aand checked hoses. Car now will Idle at 1,000 rpm or a little lower. I can not find any vaccuume leaks.
I checked the carb with filter removed. When the throttle is applied I can see the smaller barels getting gas, but even if I apply full throttle to red line the other barrels get no gas none, nada, zip.
car is '85 gsl with rats nest removed.
what can I check and how. how can I fix my problem?
thanks,

Unless you have modified the carb for mechanical secondaries, they will not open just by revving the engine.
You might want to hop (no pun intended) over to Sterling's site and ask him for assistance in troubleshooting the carb. By the sound of it, you may need a rebuild.

I thought the teeter totter was just a myth to cause problems... I bet the linkage is just sticky. Spray some PB blaster on it inside and out and wire the secondaries for mechanical operation. After a few days of driving you can remove the wire and they should work by vacuum again.

The teeter-totter being off-position will, if nothing else, make for stiffer throttle response. I think the jury is still out on any other effect, though last time it was discussed, the 800-lb gorilla of all subjects carburetor (Stirling) opined pretty convincingly that it has no other effect.
In opposition, there is a lot of anecdotal testimony that it made "a major difference!" after being restored to proper position.
Me, I just figure it should be where it should be, before trying to solve any other problems. Step one in troubleshooting is "eliminate all other off-normal conditions, whether you think they are important or not."
