Carb and flooding question
A person that I'm trying to buy an fb from said this
what does he/she mean by "the secondaries are stuck open"? and is it a huge problem that will cost me more than a few hundred $$?
thanks
edit: I think he/she is talking about the bigger barrels in the carb. So I guess my new question is how much would it cost to rebuild a crab and would it be cheaper to buy a new one?
The carb is toast. The secondaries are stuck open,so if you let the car idle or shut it off the secondaries fill up with fuel, and flood the motor out.
thanks

To me it sounds like a stuck float inside the carburetor, which just requires taking the top off and cleaning the needle seat.
Any good shop can do this for you.

Any idea of how much it will cost? How about the engine flooding? Will I be able to start the car again once the engines flooded?
Thanks
Thanks

What part of Washington are you in?
You have to great Rx Doctors up there, Atkins Rotary outside Tachoma and Pineapple Racing in Portland.
Give them a call, should be 1hr labor, could be a full rebuild if the needle/seats are bad, get that price too.

Don't pass up the car just cause of a little carb problem! I can't rebuild it for free, but we can all help you with advice. Hell, a junkyard carb is less than 50 bucks!
Just tell the owners that the rebuild prices you got are outrageous, and see if they'll bring down the price of the car.
It could be as simple as one solenoid wire being disconnected, and a tight linkage that just needs WD40.
