Carb air cleaners, what are you guys using?

I hate to sound like a ricer, but i want a more open carb air cleaner assembly mainly for the sound, i love the sound of an opened up carb. I ground out some of the stock air cleaner on the lid and i also noticed an improvement in the way it pulled (surprizingly), so i know there is something to gain from a better cleaner.

Something like this is what i'd like

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2195-...89052750QQrdZ1

but correct me if i'm wrong, the Nikki carb is 4 1/2".

I have the RB one. I like it, it looks neat and sounds cool. Well, it would sound cool if I could hear it.

That looks cool, I would love to put one of those on my car. Do they sell the adapter for them or do you have to custom make them?

I got a new lid from here - http://www.mrcmfg.com/respeed/sa3.html

and used it with a k&n, the good thing is that i can easily go back to stock for smog, just putting the stock lid back on.

hey carl, can you tell me more about the arr box? i've looked through the old posts, but didn't find much, and all of the pictures have been taken off line. Also, is there a emissions one? I didn't see it on your website...

Thanks!

i have one of those 6 5/8 chrome air cleaners from advanced or autozone. it came with an adaptor that fit the stock carb and fits the holley without the adaptor and special ordered a K&N filter element for it.

Mine is a DCOE 48 also and it just plain sounds SWEET. Nice and tunable too. My RB Street Port exhaust is quiet in comparison.

No your not crazy, it will improve the breathing. Just the others improve it even more. Look at the flow numbers I posted in the thread.

I made an open lid out of an old trash can and made a test pipe in place of my cats, it feels like my GSL-SE did stock now.
