So this problem has happened a couple times and wondering what it is. This problem seems to be intermittent. Sometimes when i start my car (both hot and cold) The car turns over like normal and the car fires like normal but then instantly dies. The only way i have been able to get it going when it is doing this is to give it some gas and get the engine up to 3k quickly before it can die. today when i did this it went to 3k like i said, then tried to die. The tach dropped to about 1k then went back to normal and ran fine. this is the only symptom that the car has, as far as i can tell. It is an 81 12a rx7.

 

Mine does this as well, hot and cold. I keep thinking the choke might need adjusting.

 

Vacuum leak is my first suspicion. Also extra drag on the accessory belts might cause this as well.
Make sure your AC is off and your alternator is working to spec.

 

the problem comes and goes, so i dont think its a vacuum leak, seeing as though it does it hot and cold, probably not the choke either. And i have no AC. If the alternator wasnt working the battery would be dead, it still reads 13v (roughly).

 

I don't have AC or PS. I am also sitting right at 13v
