as you already know I lived very close to where you live...there was a spot near there...a bar called Chevy's or sumfin like that...I'd say there were at least 1 raid a month of cops looking for people with warrents...every friday and saturday night that parking lot gets packed!...check there...

good thing it happened now though...if it were summer your car could be anywhere...NYC, PA...from all the benny's you would really never know who stole it...i'm willing to say this was someone local to the area

ride around Brick and Lakewood...if you want we can take a weekend and cruise around...as i am ashamed to say that i am familiar with the more questionable areas...i may still have a contact or two in the "hood"

You would think people would have better things to do on New years eve. Some guy here stole a fire truck that night - took the cops approx 2 minutes to find him (wonder why) - as for your car, a lot of times kids will take them for a short trip across town and dump them off - I hope you get it back in one pce

 

No I dont believe that is the case. I had the minimum allowable insurance that NJ lets you get away with, which is just basic Liability. Wish I would of taken the Rx that night and left the Eclipse home. grrrr. I am going to do more driving around today through neighborhoods, although my eclipse is rather loud and not very stealthy for spying.

Drive around and look for it.when my modded 95 accord got stolen that's what i did, found it in some ladies front yard stripped to the bone...... They caught the guys who did it, (lauatian gang) who spent a total of 1 night in jail and were back out stealing my nighbors 94 accord the next night.

Thievies + gun to head + bullet in thier brain = justice

 

I hope someone finds it. I'll keep an eye out.

Damn, sorry to hear that, gump.

In case it gives you hope, mine ('84 SE) was stolen when it was about three years old and recovered after three (long) weeks with minimal damage.

dude that really sucks.. but yea.. at least you didnt dump a **** load of money into it and have it stolen then..i really hope you get it back... maybe it was a relative or someone playing a trick...but probly not..

Man, I know the feeling. Let me tell you, I had to find my car myself too, dont rely on just the police. I found mine in about 5 days, but there wasnt much left . Good luck with your search, and I wish you the best in a speedy recovery with minimal damage.

Thanks, when I first noticed it missing one of the first things I thought of was your incident a while back.

This is what I hope happens!! I drove around for awhile today, working my way out further from where I live.

I really need to consider now, using some alternative methods of locking my one remaining car from being taken. Anyone have any good ideas here? I've never given this much thought in the past, being that I just never imagined it happening, but now that it has, I want to do something more to protect my vehicle. I'm less concerned with it being broken into then I am the would be theif being able to get away with the car.

when i lived in CA my accord was stolen from a mall and within 4 hours i had it back with everything inside...

if funds are tight then do the fuel pump kill switch

 

Ummm... how about a club? They are simple, effective (where I live), and pretty cheap.

This, combined with good personal safety habits, will keep your car in your driveway and out of thieves hands.

 

you know how the front of an fb tapers to a near-point? if you find the thief, back his head up against a wall, make him bite down (gently, now) on the bumper, rev it for a while and eeeeeeever so slowly let out the clutch until you feel better.

 

Those are a joke, thieves will take a hacksaw and saw through the wheel (takes only a few seconds).

 

One fuel cut out switch is ok but I have 3 in my 85. Hide them in various locations, or also buy a aftermarket steering wheel and hub and remove it every night....A lot of people say it's a pian in the *** but if you let the car run for a couple minutes before you drive it (like you should) then that time can be used to re-install the wheel...good luck.

 

The car was found today. I dont know all the details but the police called me earlier today to let me know they had it and it had been found in the woods in a nearby town. It is being checked for prints today, and hopefully I'll get to see it soon for myself. It is missing a lot from what they tell me (Hood, Engine, Trans, speakers, battery). Plus having two flat front tires. I'm guessing the engine compartment wiring is chopped to all hell. Maybe the interior is salvagable? I dunno. I'll post pics after I get to see it.

This is not the first thread I've read like this. Scary stuff.

If a thief really wants your car and no one's looking, you're screwed. There's always some way they can get it (put it on a trailer, etc).

....just makes me want to finish getting my alarm in and buy a shotgun.

Did they find any prints?

 

The sad thing about is the people that took it probably cruise this forum too.

 

that is another very scary thing...you wouldn't know it but these parts are probably ebayed and sold on this forum all the time

 

If I was him, I would definately be cruising ebay.
