Car smoking, patch and gum not working
Car smoking, patch and gum not working
My car only smokes after a trip of sustained speed. like 20-30 minutes of going 65+ nothing crazy just 65-80. after i stop all this smoke comes from the engine bay. smells like oil. I do have a dowel pin leak but its not very big, it uses maybe a quart of oil between changes.
is this bad? do i need to worry about?

Check your metering oil pump lines. These will crack over time and leak small amounts of oil onto the right side of the engine under the carb. It takes several min. of driving for it to start smoking because it is such a small amount of oil coming through the lines. If that is the problem you need to fix it now because that oil is supposed to be lubricating the inside of the combustion chambers and not burning up on top of your engine.
Hmmm, glad i started adding a little bit of oil when i fill up.
I normally fill up with 12-13 gallons, how many ounces should i use? I do alot of stop and go driving. (damn you charlotte)
