don't know, but i'm sure it's not as easily as if you got it from a TX title.
but with canada, i've never had any problems.
i honestly don't think you will have a problem. (i believe all NA cars are the same, as opposed to j and euro-specs)

Cool

Well, Pilgrim...

I don't know how Texas DMV works, but here in Ohio you've got two options. One is to go to the Court, and file a "lost title" action. You write up the details of how you came to posess the car, what you did to try to obtain the title, and details as to VIN, model, etc. If the Judge has reason to believe you're on the up and up he'll issue you a Court Order which you can take to the DMV and get a title.

The other option is to file for a Salvage Title, sometimes called an Abandoned on Property Title. In this State if you have a Salvage Title you have to be inspected by the State Patrol before you can be issued a normal title. The Patrol wants to be sure the car, or its major parts, aren't stolen and that it meets basic safety standards.

Denny,
From the 'ol corncrib....

mine had not title when i got it, went to car titles division downtown , and they gave me all the info i needed to do the leg work, plus they pulled up the last owner and you have to mail them a certified letter asking them to release the title, (all this was in the instructions from title place), anyway the letter came back and i took it to title place and they re-issued me a new clean title and license plate, all took about 7-10 days.

Damn... sounds like a PITA...

To import an American car into Canada all you have to do replace the bumpers, make sure it has a child restraint in the backseat, and get metric guages...

The title transfer itself is easy...

TO brong a Canadian car to teh states, I don't think you have to do any of that...

My buddy has a 1992 Thunderbird Sport that is from Canada. It has the metric gauges and daytime running lights.

I keep telling him what milage to do maintenance, but everything's in kilometers, so it really does no use. Wonder if he can use it for an excuse for speeding.

"Well Officer, I don't really pay attention to the speedometer since it's in kilometers."

Wow, my Uncle bought a '96 Corvette and it took him about a month to get a title for it. He said it was hell, with all the paper work and waiting and such.
