Car cranked again after 3mths and need help with a few things

Well my car died a few months back, the wiring is crap i know and its caused alot of problems. I went out tonight messed with it a little and it cranked. here is the thing last time i drove it i got BAD heat and smell coming up the firewall once parked. basically the mechanical sutff is new in the tranny motor and exhaust (probably has a few thousand miles on it). What could the heat and smell be coming from??

second i cranked it tonight but did not drive it, vitals seemed fine, oil psi good water temp good, exhaust did not seem that hot. but after it got to operating temp the motor and under hood seemed extremely hot?? the exhaust was not extreme or red or anything, firing was good and timing on mark. Its just the heat seemed to be in the motor????? how is that. i never noticed it that bad ??

thanks robert

yeah the oil adn coolant levels seem good. The smell is very different, i have smelled teh coolant and oil burn but never smelled this, the funny thing is it seems to come from under the car and up the firewall?? But what could cause the undre hood temps to get hot and the motor alone seem hot, i know heat transfers to the rest of the components but i can tell its hotter on the motor the other places?

ill check. i did have leaks when i first put it in, when the gaskets were new. i fixed them all i thought a while back. i did drive it last night, the engine bay got hot but not near as bad as before dont think. It started raining so i could not tell for sure. i know the exhaust at one point a while ago got so hot it melted the idler arm bushing. Well im still looking over everything. thanks for the idea
