I've seen this topic come up many times, and can't for the life of me remember exactly how to do it.

Far as I remember, it can fit on any of the 4 ways. If it was me, I'd try the cheap and easy way and do the following:

Make sure the distributor is installed right.
Hook up a timing light and have somebody turn the engine over. See if the light flashes and come anywhere near the timing marks. If its pretty close, its just a matter of moving the distributor to get the leading set. It you can't even see a mark, take the pully off, and rotate it 1/4 turn and try again. Keep doing that until you get the right one.

I know this isn't the right way, but common sense says that as long as the distributor has been installed correctly, you should get it within 4 trys.

Option 2 is search the forum. I've definitely seen this covered before.

take out your rear rotor leading plug. spin the motor by hand until you see an apex seal in the spark plug hole. A small mirror will be very helpful here. once you see the seal, spin the motor backwards just a little bit so the apex seal is between the leading plug and trailing plug. Now look at your pulley. The mark should be real close to position. If its not, take off the pulley and rotate it so the mark comes close. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. That seems to work for the alignment part. I will post very soon for the final result.

Good one. That's way easier than the way I remember reading somewhere here.
