Can SA/FB Drift?
have you ever driven the corolla GTS?? its allmost exactly like driving an 85 rx7.
the only differance is the dash board and the power band from the pistion engine
!
if you look at the floor pan and compare it to an rx7 its nearly the same.
also many parts can be interchanged fairly easily between the 2 cars.
a stockport 12a can dirft just fine you just have to match your tires and suspension to your power level. Obviously a 100hp motor wont be drifting on 215/50/15 wheels/slicks.
there are serveral sa/fb drifters still around.
theres an old jap guy in irvine that still drifts his sa at the local drift days.
the sa/fb was a hot car in japan back in the day.
im not sure what the ae86 stuck around and the sa/fb didnt.
cheep, light, durable, and easy to get HP

"Drift Bible" DVD Has anyone seen this? Any reviews?
its awesome, get it, you'll like it. It goes through all the basic drifting techniques, with various cars, a S14, S13, MR2, and AE86. Also shows some a few other things, like a touge battle or two. Its definatly worth buying.
I was originally looking for an ae86 gts 1986 "trueno" and i came across the rx7 for like 4 or 5 times less (compared to a nice trueno) and when i found an 85 for 800 i bought it after inspection(i came to the conclusion they were very similar in body/suspension/drivetrain, but with a rotary engine that in the end will probally make more than the ae86 so i bought it. my firend has the gts and it is just better in drifting period. the way it is designed is just slightly superior, but the rx7 can be modded obviously to keep up, i have mods but my engine and carb are wack stock crap and i have saved them for last!!! i have just decided to swap my engine!!! yes in the middle of the post i have decided to swap...i have to research bye...
yeah i know the guy at Mazdatrix that drifts his 1st gen. I dont wanna mention his name cuz he might get pissed. i doubt it though. well anyways...Yeah hes a cool guy with crazy drifting talent. Me and him are usually the only RX7s at the small drift events here, and i always drool over his car cuz its so much cleaner than mine. One day i asked him if he could drive my car so i can kinda get a feel on how hes driving. He drove my car like nothing with crazy angles that ive never been able to bust since im a newbie drifter. His carr is amazing too!! He let me ride shotgun in it for a few laps. Man! it was full throttle all the way..man oh man was it fun.
i personally am still kinda new to the drifting thing. ive taken my car to about 3 events and practiced but im still not that great. i learned that our cars are really delicate and super easy to break loose. basically, you gotta ease the accelerator. too much of it and youll spin like crazy!!!

Well said!!!!!!!
I do a lot of wet parking lot drifting. There is a Hospital parking lot about 3 blocks from my house. Completly empty on sats, and suns.
I find it VERY easy to get the rear end to come out to the desired slip angle, but keeping it there, and holding it for a controled drift is difficult.
It always wants to keep going.
I will have my car driving again in a month or 2 and have a fresh LSD with new gears (cant remember what ratio). Hopefully it will be a little easier to control.
