can not having a gas cap on do this

my car dies after 7,000rpm, and then some times wont let me go over 3,000rpm or dies at 6,000rpms,yo just dies,what can this be my gas caps of i lost some how, can it be this ??????

Sure. Not only is it bad for the car, but your gas is escaping as vapor out the filler hole... Thats bad for the environment and bad for your wallet and could be dangerous. Get a gas cap. They're like $15, if it dosen't solve you problem, at least you wont be losing gas to vaporization.

P.S. Why are you revving your 12a over 7000rpm anyway? There's not much power band over 6500rpm.

my car pulls hard to 8,000rpm, but i take it to like 7,600rpms most of the time, when i push it, thanks

Water gets in. A GSL-SE tank I picked up last year sat without a cap for ten years and is now ruined inside.

if you are reving to 8 I dont think your housings/eshaft will like that much, I believe they start to bend around 7800 iirc
