Can the Kosei rims be powder coated?

I'm gonna paint my 7 black and the interior is gonna remain brown, so I figured I could buy some Kosei rims and powdercoat them a metalic gold or even black.

Well, since they come finished in silver, I would say they could easily be powder coated any color you want.

If you powder coat your rims, you will not be able to race on any tracks. I know here at Texas World Speedway they will not let you pass tech. Too many powder coated rims have failed.

They like to break compleatly apart at the rim. The baking process aparently weakens them.

My rx7 is a daily driver. I don't really have plans for taking it to a track. Maybe I might take it to a 1/4 mile strip, but that would be the extent of it.

this for the most part is true.
standard powdercoating requires a cure temp of around 425 f. aluminum starts getting weak around 350-400 f. which will permanatly damage the rim. you can however podwercoat aluminum with a "low cure" powdercoat that only requires being baked at 285-300 f. . any decent powdercoater should know this. check with the local sanctions to be sure that your rims will pass tech.

I'll look around and probably purchase a set anyway (seem to be the only ones that are available for 7's anyway), if I have any doubt I'll leave them as is.
