Can i use this intermediate in my rebuild?

Hey guys,

Why is there the discoloration in the lower part of the iron? Is this just a byproduct of the combustion cycle, or what? This plate is completely within spec, but the discoloration bothers me, my other intermediate plates dont have such a huge color difference, but more wear. Is this plate ok to reuse in my rebuild?

Thanks in advance, Matt

Discoloration is from overheating. If there is no step wear or warpage, use it.

thats actually really interesting to see where the combustion occurs represented by a shape like that.

Technically that is not all combustion, most of it is the exhaust stroke.

400 wet/dry paper. Use oil instead of water and a firm sanding block, no fingers.
