like the title says, can i shoot flames if i have the full racing beat exhaust (header, presilencer, powerpulse muffler)? I think someone told me that you can only if you have a straight through muffler, but i'm not sure. It's no big deal if I can't, but it would be really cool if I could.

 

they won't be as flamboyant... but yes, you can still get some nice fireballs out of the back. Well, you can with the RB Streetport system.

 

Yaknow, flames are cool when you're young and running around town racing Honda's, but when it comes down to it, shooting flames is really a waste of performance and a good way to get ticketed. YMMV,

In order to get flames to exit the muzzle, um, I mean muffler, you have to have a overly rich mixture, which is going to cause decreased power output since it's not stoichiometric, i.e. you've got too much fuel to burn efficiently. Additionally, it requires an open exhaust that will allow this rapidly expanding burning gas volume to exit without blowing your muffler off, and then it requires you to rev to high rpm and let off so that you get the 'pop'.

If this is your thing and it's going on a showcar, at least do it right and get a 'sparker' for the tailpipe behind the muffler. Another driver here had a picture last summer of his SE muffler split in half - that's a testament to the pressures that you'll be building up in there to get 'flames'.

you can get them by having a hole somewhere where air can enter the system with the unburned fuel (close to the engine), sorta like me and my broken gasket ...

If you have a carburator, just leave the car in gear at like above 40mph, and then turn the ignition off, wait a second or two and turn it back on and

I've got the RB street port exhaust, and yes i've shot out 10" blue flames. Very cool.

With my MSD 6A, it goes KABOOOMM by just turning the key to ON. Well, not always but once in awhile.

 

Can you do with stock exhaust ? I bet I must have my emission stuff remove right?

 

Mine never shot flames stock, then I got a new carb and an old RB power pulse exhaust and it shot flames like mad (basically every time I shifted) until I got the carb tuned and fixed a hold in the exhaust. I haven't heard it shoot flames since then.

So, as previously stated, tune your carburetor so that your car runs like crap and make a hole in your exhaust so that you fry all of your brain cells and you'll be all set to shoot flames. Kind of a heavy price to pay just to keep tailgaters off your ***.

Yea, I just though it was natural for a rotory engine to shot flame even with stock or uber RB set exhaust system. I guess not then, hmmm.....

 

Well I have the full streetport system, larger injectors, mild SP, and no emissions what so ever, well the sticker under the hood, and I have never shot flames!

 

every time this stuff comes up, it makes me feel so old.... I mean, what is the appeal of shooting flames out the tail pipe? Its something that should be avoided if at all possible. Its this kind of ricer mentality that shows how many punk *** kids drive rx7s, you know which ones you are. Thank god there are still some of you guys out there that respect their cars

 

i have a flamethrower kit on my car.. so i shoot nice flames anytime i want.... i dont have to rev it up and all that crap.. its not about respecting your car.. its about showing off.. and i am not a little kid.. im almost 30.. besides people have been shooting flames for many years.

 

I seen some many pro races like course race where Rx7's are shooting flame when decelerating on a curve so, I though it was plain normal to see something like that on a Rx7. The same on Rx7 anime, and movies that have street races. Must of the Rx7's dose it so, now I am wondering is this something to avoid? Dose it hurt the engine? Why it happens? Dose it matter if you shot flame or not? I mean as long as I can run my car top notch tune perfection. I guess my questions are those.

 

I am tuned decently well, no flames unless I run all the way thru the gears and drop my foot off the peddal wicked fast as I put in the clutch, only a small fireball tho and it only does it in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd. But it turns heads a bit. I do get backfires on deceleration tho so I may need to lean her out just a bit, but I am not worried only little pops.

 

You can even get a stock carb to toss enough fuel upon decell to pop a flame. Just remove the decelleration dashpot. In fact, that's half the reason it's there.

You need an overly rich condition to immediately follow a super-hot condition. The heat can be generated by reving the **** outta her, plain old hard driving, or running a bit lean on top. The rich condition can happen as the engine is spinning and becomes a vacuum to the carb when the throttle slams shut and unusually high vacuum draws more-than-normal fuel from the idle circuit.

 

There are to places i can emit flames:
-My *** [due to mums cooking]
-My 7' [due to stock 4 barrel barby, runin a lil' ritch on a nice sunny, bitch spankin day while reving the **** off it at 7thou]

Wonder what what happen if i put some of dem mumas beritos in my 7'? ?

 

well, the thing is, wouldn't detune my engine just so I can shoot flames. That's just stupid (IMO). I was just wondering if it would happen naturally, because I think they look cool. Oh, and sterling, I'm planning on getting one of your carbs in the future. Does that increase flamage at all?
