can I fit 17's on my 85 rx7?

found some great looking wheels, I'd like to know if I can fit 17's on my 1985 gsl-se? right lug pattern, but don't know the offset. they have a good size lip on them.

Need to know the allowable offsets for the car and if the 17 inch with 205/40's will work?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW RIGHT AWAY as I'd like to purchase them right away (rare, used set).

Thanks,
Matthew at cuda72frk@yahoo.com

5 zigen 17x7 215/40/17 plus 35 offset with a billet 5/8 inch spacer. Also I have coilovers which probably help with the offset. Your offset is probably different because you have an SE. Keep that in mind

If you can post the wheel size and offset specs, someone may be able to state whether they will work or not.
Fitting anything over a 7" wide wheel, or more than a 205 width tire, on the front, is rather tricky. Spacers can help reduce the offset, when there is too much, but nothing can help when there is too little offset.
The GSL-SE requires much more offset than the non SE does.

that's the problem, the guy selling them does not know the offset. they look more like a mid/rwd wheel, and they have a 1-2 inch lip on them. tires are 205/40's. so the gsl-se requires "more" offset meaning a higher number, like a 40vs30?

I think the SE requires somewhere in the +30 range for a 7" wheel. The non-SE uses around +15 / +20 for a 7" wheel.
Is the guy selling the wheels local? I prefer to test fit any wheels, before buying.

i run a 16x8 wheel with a +10 offset on my 84 gslse. the rear was fine, but i had to roll the lip in the front fenders in order to make them fit. i am still running p205's too. so i higher offset and a 7" wheel, you should be able to fit. you may have to roll the lip in the fenders like i did though just for a heads up.
