Anyone use it? Is it as good as they promote?

From what I have heard, they are the most amazing thing for a rotary. Gives it more low end power than you could ever think of. Anyone who has one, likes it better than a turbo.

It gives the rotary a boost where it actually needs it; in the low RPM range. Turbos are great for maximum power at high RPM, but supers are more fun to drive ('77 REPU with a 7").

I've been around Camden SCs a few times over the last few years and helped install a couple. I'd go SC over turbo pretty easily as long as it's a roots or Whipple.

I have a Camden Supercharger on my 79 w/13b. Right now we have the 5" with a Holley 600. soon to be going

Speaking of Camden superchargers, do you guys think it would be possible (or very smart) to go with something like a 7" on a carb? Or do y'all think it would be better to go with fuel injection?


*Edit* Now that I see CodeBlue was making 271WHP, I think a 5 inch would be plenty enough for me. I don't want insane power/speed. I want something that will keep me entertained, but still put a lot of cars back in their place when they bark up the wrong tree. Heh. I'm not worried about 1/4 times, I'm just worried about driveable fun and reliability.

Also I'm about to invest about $8,000 in my FB. Or if I can find an FD for the right price I might but it and give my FB to my mother. So if I went with the camden should I upgrade the engine too? How much would it be for everything I would need, minus engine cost. I would need to replace the tranny and rear axle right? Also do you like donald trumps hair?

 

Theres really not too much difference between a 5in or a 7in. Just a slight variation in air flow. If your going to buy a brand new setup I would get the 7in and go with fuel injection with an ECU "microtech". Thats what were doing.

As for reliability, Ive had no problems with my setup, using the carb setup. Though with the camden superchargers holley seems to work the best.

The thought of turboing the car did come to mind, but I think once a person goes supercharger, its in their blood. I love the low end power that it gives me, not to mention the constant sounds the blower gives you.

Im a truely addicted supercharger fan..never have been disapointed in camden, never will be. They sell awesome setups "products".

When I first changed from stock to a port and polished supercharger setup, and drove it for the first time, I thought OMG what did I do to my car. LOL it was great. Now I want more.

We are going to be selling our current setup in a few weeks. Which includes Supercharger, Manifold, Holley 600, High performance Holley fuel pump, and whatever else goes with the setup that I dont need when we do the changeover to fuel injection. I want 1,500 firm. Everything is fairly new. Im hoping twigg gets the setup, but if he doesnt it will be up for grabs. You wont get this setup for this price ever.

I see in your sig you have a RRR Killer B 13B with a Mikuni- How old is that set-up? I had one exactly like that 10years ago on an 81 Rx-7.

I was never fond of the Mikuni. I felt the 13B was underpowered. I wonder what a simple swap to a tuned Holley would do for your power? Have you had you're set up dynoed?

Maybe someday I'd get a SC set up, but I'd be happy with 175 ponies in my 85. Maybe just a SP 12A...

 

Why are they 2 "Code Blue"?

 

Im codeblue 2 and david is codeblue.....the car is sorta both ours....we do time share with it...I have the title....he pays for everything...I give him all rights to the car since he puts his heart and soul into it.

 

The set-up has to be atleast 6 or 7 years old now. The motor has been in the car for a while now, and I'm sure that it could use a good tune-up. It's never been dyno'd, but I remember my dad talking to the guys at RRR and they figured the motor was making between 200 - 230 HP at the crank. But, I'm positive it isn't near that anymore. I'm sure if I got a new carb, or atleast a good tune up and a new clutch, it would have much more pep. The clutch that is in the car now slips pretty badly in fourth and fifth gear when under heavy load.

But hey, I'll have my license in a couple months, I'll be getting a job, and I'll soon have the money to give my baby the respect and attention she deserves....

i was thinking bout buying an FB, i got an fc right now, and was wondering, if i bought the SC kit would i need to upgrade the ecu or clutch?

 

I used to put superchargers in Brit 4bangers (like a Judson in a Sprite, rootes in MG) and it really made good cars out of them! Very useful starting torque (instantly!) and reliable high speed cruising. Haven't put one on a 7 yet, but I'd like to. Blowers give you increased torque right off the starting line. No wait for spoolup. I always did suck thru so the carb didn't have to be pressurized. Lot's of primitive carbs can be used with a blower.

My 85 GLS-SE wih a 13B motor has the Camden on it and she runs like a lion chasing a gazelle. Hoping to have the 84 done the same way when I get my 12mos backpay from my Army retirement that is owed to me. Rotary Performance/RX7.com did my 85 and they will probably do the 84 unless i can find someone on here that is cheaper.

 

Theres a guy here in town that has 2 Supercharged RX-7's on the road. He swears by the Camden superchargers. He even sold his FD because it wasnt supercharged. Now I think hes working on a Supercharged project with another FD.

Like he always says. "Dont get me wrong, turbo's are awesome. But superchargers are better."
