So I am thinking that this one was in a Spitfire, maybe.

I'll ask if I can get to sleep. Picked up two more core engines. These ones are boring common American-market FB engines, nothing at all fancy Also the world's largest supply of 24 spline axles and a couple sets of Tokicos and a full set of Bilstein HDs if you can believe that. I passed on a whole shitload of Blues and some Konis, at some point it's no longer getting parts you think you need and just becomes hoarding for the sake of hoarding, and I want to avoid that.

I can easily justify getting all the 12A things I can get my hands on, though
lol thanks to this thread i finally have an answer to what my weird distributor is! The only thing different about mine is that it's missing the cap and rotor, but what you have there is one like I found a few summers ago.

PeeJay - did you say you found someone with sets of Tokico Blues that might being willing to sale? Would like to get my hands on set of struts and shocks... the rears are N/A currently with most part suppliers.

You're about halfway between me and him. IIRC the only rear shocks he had besides the Bilsteins that I grabbed were a whole lot of stockers. Which aren't bad shocks, to be truthful. Most of the Blues had no gas pressure in them, we dumped everything into the scrap pile.

Bilstein will rebuild any of their aftermarket shocks for something like $70 apiece, and some people add their own nitrogen fitting so they can discharge/recharge them at home and not send them out to Bilstein. Which is why I was so happy to see Bilsteins.

out of curiosity what is the casting number on the distributor? there should be a big long mitsubishi number, with a 4 digit Mazda number. Mazda number will be 8871/89xx or N2xx or something like that

When I manage to find it I'll have a look, I looked up the number at some point and just found an '80 replacement on mazdatrix, but I was a bit confused since I pulled it from an '81..

Looked closer at the pan - the oil level/temp ports are on the RIGHT side, where they shouldn't be. But the pan curvature perfectly matches the front and rear and it doesn't look redrilled? I'll have a closer look when I get it apart.
