Calling all wiring harness hackers!

So I just started the process of de-looming and thinning out my wiring harness today, and I made some really good progress. At least on the engine bay side of the firewall....

I've got all of my un-needed wires clipped, but I'm having a helluva time getting the wiring harness into some form of a workable position under the dash. I have removed the Emissions Control Unit and cut all of the wires connected to it, but still don;t have enough room to access the harness itself. I've tried everything short of pulling the dash, which I'd really prefer not to do as I'm running out of space to put car parts.

So, does anyone have any super secret tips or tricks for getting these wires out??

Pulling the dash is the fastest/easiest way to do it. On the other hand, I doubt that you will end up pulling very many wires out. I havent personally done it so I dont know. I simply removed all the excess wiring from the engine harness as it seems most of the other wires in the engine bay are still used. Im sure vipernicus42 will chime in here as he is currently working on his wiring also.

yeah dash needs to come out. i removed all the extras with mine, and there is no need. total weight savings was less than a pound.

in the 81-83 harness there just isn't that much to remove.

here's how it looks. this is the entire wiring harness from a 1983 GS, which is similar to a 1981. I just started cleaning it, lots of work but I'm taking my time

I'm not really looking for weight reduction, more just for simplicity and cleaning up the bay. My goal is to have as few wires and hoses visible as possible. Don't get me wrong it's not going to be a showcar, I just have a pet peeve of guys that pop their hoods and there's some giant tangled mass of wires and hoses all over the place. I'm going to be pulling the dash this weekend, should give me a chance to clean up some of the other stuff, like the heater core that died a couple years ago, and the AC blower that will no longer see service.
