California Smog numbers... Yahoo!!!

82 12A with 174K+ miles, California Emisions

Test Only, High Emmiter Profile

Passed visual

---ASM Emissions Test Results---
Test RPM CO2 O2 HC-Max HC-Ave HC-Meas CO-Max CO-Ave CO-Meas NO-Max NO-Ave NO-Meas Results
15 mph 1988 13.7 2.2 152 45 54 1.05 0.16 0 1191 434 376 PASS
25 mph 2094 14.1 1.8 123 33 23 0.85 0.14 0 1021 357 152 PASS

Sorry for the horrible layout.

Smog equipment is a new air control valve and a Bonez Performance catalytic converter, used airpump of eBay. So for all you suffering from Smog/emission woes, look into buying a new air control valve, it's most likely your problem. My airpump broke/siezed and I suspect a part broke off and took out my old air control valve.

I don't think that the smog equipment robs that much power, as I've had it dyno'ed at 102 RWHP, not bad for a $250 rebuild. I'll disconnect the smog pump and block the air control valve the next time I get a dyno pull for comparison.

Anyway, I'm happy. I can register my car for a few years. And I've proven to the DMV and CARB that my car is not a high emitter.

Congrats.
Rotaries have the potential for being very dirty, which doesnt help them when it comes time for the DMV to choose high profile candidates for test only status.
But if everything is working right, they are quite clean and pollute no more than many modern cars.NoX in particular is very low on rotaries, due to their design. Its usually the high HCs from a tired cat or faulty air injection system, that burns you.

What's so exciting????? The fact that I don't have to be paranoid when I turn the corner and see a mobile smog station and a CHP officer, or a "land survey crew" located on a freeway merge ramp. It feels good to be driving a car that is not a gross polluter
