Uh, whether it is effective below 200mph I dont know, But high pressure is high pressure my friend. It can twist and turn just fine and its would still be higher pressure than ambient. Your theory holds no water sorry.

don't waste your time with cold air , or ram air intake!!!!! this intake setup will get to your destination much quicker!!! and the best part is no cold air or ram air needed! plus its pretty to look at

It's not 'my theory', its fluid mechanics.

Once you put sharp bends in the ducting, it's no longer 'ramming'

I'm with Manntis here. The whole point is to firstly get cold air to the motor and secondly, do it with as few kinks the lines as possible. I'm no expert, but if the air pathway is convoluted, doesn't it restrict the engine more than a straight path? Makes sense to me anyhow.

"no cold air needed"? Dude, what we speak of is relatively simple. Even the Weber setup would benefit from cooler, more oxygen-rich air. With the comeback of the Webbers as a popular and available mod, maybe we'll make a CAI for 'em.
I've been considering with going to a Webber setup on my 12a project, but I'd like to drive one first to get a feel for if it's right for me. And if I do, it'll have a nice Rotorhead CAI.
With filters too, I can't believe how many custom carb setups (like the one pictured above) I see filterless.

And enough with the non-existent "ram-air" debate already.
