buying an 82 1st gen, help
the car is at a dealer and he is asking 300 for it. from the black and white pic it looks to be a light tan color and in decent shape. he says it was a trade in and ran when traded in but now it won't start. do you guys think this is most likely a flooding problem from say moving it around the lot. i have an s5 and have never had flooding problems before. do the old 1st gen's have flooding problems a lot? thanks

Yes, I would say they have flooding problems BUT, there are many things that could make it not start. It does sound like flooding to me if it did start and now it wont. $300 sounds like a good price though

this is exactly how I got my first gen, The dealer had no idea how to maintain the car.
They were constantly starting and running the car for very short periods.
it ran like crap when I got it, but a good ol ATF treatment and it was like new.
for $300, take it.

They probably don't even know how to start it. Pull the choke ALL the way out and then crank until it fires - pretty simple really. Try that for at least 20 seconds before resorting to hitting the pedal or changing the choke which will probably make flooding worse. Who knows, maybe they're not even using the choke at all. Make sure you've agreed on the price before they see you fire it up.
