Buying a 1st gen, what to look for?
This weekend I'm picking up a '78/'79 1st gen, and I was just wondering if there are any common problems I should look for. I've searched this forum, and can't find any info. I've also searched the WWW and came up with nothing...
Thanks!
Thanks!

Joining the 1st gen club, eh?
First thing in my opinion is rust under the doors. The bottom of the doors tend to rust out alot. Also look inside the rear wheel wells and check for rust there. You are looking at an SA22(?) which is significantly different from the '80-'85 FB. I understand they are harder to get parts for such as fenders and thermal reactor stuff. Some of the other guys can probably tell you more thats all I can think of from my experiences.

Hi.
When I bought my car a month or two ago, I used this site:
http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/bguide/bguide.html
It seemed to have good advice. Since a lot of people in the group find rust such a problem, I spent a while going over the body with a magnet to see if any areas were secretly patched up with bog.
Since you have nearly 2000 posts, I expect you know more about the general issues with rotary engines than I do.
Bye,
