Button question??

I discovered a white button right behind my ignition. It's electronic, it's wired through the steering column. Anybody know what it is and what it does?

It's not a button it's a light. I re-wired it to stay on when I have the lights on. Good for night time.

I have no idea. Mines never came on before I rewired it. I discovered it was a light after re-wiring it to see what ti does. Maybe you should do the same?

Yeah cause finding that damn ignition in the dark is a bitch LOL. How was it you did it? Plus I found a harness that's not connected to anything. I'll have to take pictures of it tomorrow and maybe you can tell me where that leads to because the Haynes Manual was useless with these

Mine (stock) turns on as soon as you pull the driver's door handle. If it's not doing that, there is a set of wires that runs through the door to the handle that you should check, and make sure they get power

I'll have to further investigate. I never noticed it before. It would be nice if it would stay on until you turn the ignition
