Busted engine case

My co-driver spun out on a fast turn at Waterford Hills. He got T-boned by another car totaling our car. The engine cracked at the engine mount. We did not know this at the time so we started the car and drove it, pushed it, pulled it onto the trailer. We only ran it for about a minute maybe two and never heard any grinding parts caming to a halt. Is there a possibility the engine is still good and all I have to replace is the front case section?? What should I look for?

Thanks

Jorge

For peace of mind check that the eccentric shaft didn't get bent, but I'm not sure how to actually do it. Maybe a couple v-blocks and fine dial-indicators.
Keep us posted.
I heard that Waterford's a sweet track, how's the 7 action out there?

Hey this is Rob MacDonald. I had the limited edition 1st gen at the fun run. I was at the track the day of that incident I think. Are you talking about the white car that took the hit pretty much right in the drivers side fender? I'm thinking of the day that car got nailed along with the black and green 2nd gen. The 7's had a rough day that day. I might be racing out there next season still working on some financial things to see if I can do it. Not sure of class or car though if I do get out there.

Rob,

Yep! The white car is the one that crack the engine. My car showed no external damage but everything in the front suspension was banged up. I was the only one to end up in the ambulance since I knocked myself out hitting my rollbar. Look for me at the driver school and I will help you as much as I can.

No I don't plan on selling the car now. To many little things have started to go wrong with it. So I'm just going to start ripping it apart. And as I get money put a new part on here and there. Eventualy it will be a racecar lol.

I've pretty much decided to keep it unless they make me an offer I can't refuse. The trany is on it's way to a rebuild, the clutch is getting to the end of it's life. I need to rebuild the steering linkage, I replaced the box with a used one the day I got the car. But the used box isnt much better than the one I took out. So it really needs a brand new steering box. The exhaust is also shot. And the starter slienoid needs to be either re-grounded or replaced. But like I said I don't think I'm going to sell it.

The 12A cover will work, might need to slot the mounts though...

Sorry about the ignorance, what does slot the mounts mean?

I also need an oil pan for the 13B

the peice of metal that mounts to the front cover and the engine mounts.. on the side of the mounts you might have to make the wholes into slots so the engine can be mounted more forward, because it is a little longer..

It is super easy to do.. Unfortunatly kinda hard to explain..

Hope you can make sense out of that

BTW if you use a 13B peice (the metal peice) from a GSL-SE it will bolt in.. it is shaped a little different.

And you will need a GSL-SE oilpan if yours is toast..
