Poly on everything in the front suspension...

be careful with bushings in the back.. too much firmness in bushings and your rear-end binding will get far worse..

hard bushing bad...

Bushings in the lower control arms are a good idea. Bushings in the upper control arms are a bad idea along with bushings in the watts linkage. It has to do with the configuration of the upper control arms as they are located diagonally unlike the lower control arms that are perpindicular to the rear end. The diagonal set up of the upper control arms means that they are essentially binding (because of funny angle) when the suspension articulates. So if you get even stiffer poly bushings in these places it makes the binding worse. I personally have removed the rear sway bar (corner entry security if you forget not to lift) but not always a good idea depending on your set up, and have only upgraded the lower control arm bushings. The car has the tmc springs and is very predictable on the track. Hope this helps, but if you want to know more, look in the archives at the top of this forum because someone asked the same question and rx7carl answered it very well. You can also email him.

I just purchased the polyurethane kit from energy suspension fror the rear control arms.

The bushings are a three piece bushing consisting of soft polyurethane outer shells and a standard polyurethane center section. They should articulate with the soft outside pieces better than a solid polyurethane bushing, and will work better than my hard as a rock literally 24 year old bushings I have now.

Here is a picture of the set.

Thanks for explaining that one for me before i had a chance..

While you are at it switch the rear suspension to a pan-hard bar... That is what I'll be doing soon..

Jim Makes a really killer one!

RX-7 Carl..

Are you suggesting that the watts linkage and all control arms use the same bushing?

I have just never installed or even really looked.. at any on the upper control arm and watts linkage... so i may still have 1/2 a set in the garage..

I wish I could just use rose joints on the lower control arms.. Damn IT rules.

Yes I have Jims complete suspension on my IT car. It rocks, he's the man! But for the street, I didnt like it, too noisy.

Uhhhh. I dont understand the bushing question. What I'm suggesting is only use poly on the lower long links.

Rose joints?????

Two quick questions:

1. Triple7, where did you get those energy poly bushings? How much did you pay?

2. Do you pick them up as a set, or buy individual ones like the way Vic Brit has them listed? I found the "polygraphite" ones sold as a set, but it would be nice if someone could list what I would need to order from vic brit to get a full set of bushings, or if someone could tell me where to get a set.

I picked mine up at AutoZone for 54.00, you can also order the rest of the polyurethane bushings there as well.

They can be ordered in either red or black polyeurthane.

Carl

Rose joints=sperical bushings..
Would be great on the lower arms.

I was asking if the watts linkage bushings are the same size as the control arms..

Oh ok. Boy thats a big can-o-worms. Look over at the improved touring forum. I'm not sure whether the question of spherical bearings being IT legal or not has ever been resolved. IIRC, Mazdacomp lists them in their catalog as being "IT legal".

No, the watts link bushings are different size. Although the center pivot bushing may be the same.
