burnt up starter wire

ok everyone probably knows that ive done the s4 6 port swap using s3 intake. well i went to start it up for the first time and i notice smoke coming from under the hood couldnt figure out why this would happen. so i go look and the black and red dotted wire coming from the stater burnt up i guess moisture or something in the line. has anyone else had this problem? i need help on what to do all the wires were hooked up exactly where the go. also when i hooked up the negative terminal on the battery the dash lights on the dash came on and the fuel injection clicked on. like the ignition swich was turned on but my keys were in my pocket can any one help?

thanks

I'm not sure what you did but is your throttle cable still intact? It will burn off like a big fuseable link if your ground is bad and you try to start the engine.

i found out what it was one of my grounds coming off of the harness was too close to the alternator power wire and it ran threw the harness and burned just that wire up. i guess I'm kind of lucky it wasn't more damage that was done I've re grounded the wire and im going to start it tomorrow evening. hope that works
