So I woke up Sunday to my passenger quarter glass shattered! Not sure what happened, but now need to go about replacing it. The parts manual I have cites different part numbers for SA and FB quarter glass. Is there actually any difference? My car is a 1979.
Its a shame to see that. It looks like something impacted the glass at the top of the glass section nearer to the hatch glass. The quarter glass is physically the same size from 79-85. I'm not sure what would be different over the years. You may want to post a want to buy ad here on the forum in the marketplace section. I have the left side from and 85 for sure, but I'm not certain about having the right side quarter glass. With that said, if I don't have it, I know someone here on the forum will.
You don't know what happened?!? Looks like a bullet hole at the top edge. Did you look inside for more evidence of what caused that? Whatever it was penetrated fully. Rocks don't do that unless they're moving at very high speed.
Thanks for all the replies. There's a lot of kids in the neighborhood and would not be surprised if it was a bb gun or some other shenanigans. Fortunately I will be able to salvage the glass from a 1979 parts car - so I should be okay. I did see that there is plenty of glass for sale on eBay for around $140, but usually the listing just says FB. My local glass company is charging $125 to remove the glass from the parts car and $125 to install it. On a side note has anyone used poly-carbonate? like what's for sale here: https://www.plastics4performance.com...1H2bXk2vU7y1cK

I'm going to take a closer look on Friday, will follow up here if I find any evidence!

I used Plastics 4 Performance for my FD rear hatch. Shipping is not cheap.
I think the only issue with using polycarbonate would be it won't be the same thickness as the OE glass. It might look wonky, but it'll work.
If glass is readily available and reasonably priced - use glass. Polycarbonate used for aircraft windshields crazes and scratches over time and never looks good. You're not saving any weight on this small section, so just replace it with glass and move on with life.

Glass company was able to easily remove the glass from the parts car and installed it on my car in less than an hour. I sifted through the glass and couldn't find any projectiles. There was also no damage the window frame where the impact occurred. Guess it will remain a mystery
