Broken *** weber
so i was attempting to fix a vacuum leak and i was snugging up the bolts on my carburetor when i heard *crack*. ah ****, i tightened it too much.
now im probably going to try and throw some JB weld on it just for ***** and giggles cause there isnt much else i can do with a broken weber.
so my question is. who thinks it will work, and who doesnt, and why. is the crack near and important vacuum source or signal?
here are the pics

That SUCKS!
How much effort do you want to put into her? I think you could have a bead put on the outside of that, but I would only have a qualified, experienced, old man of a welder do it.
On the cheap side, I think if you're really careful with her, you can mount it and seal it from the outside. It shouldn't leak, but if it gets tweaked, it'll just get worse. It may even get worse just from the vibration. Use a fuel-proof sealant. JB weld is great for sealing substantial leaks, ports & crevaces, but fuel does get between the metal and the epoxy. Eventually it will peel off.

If your going to use a jb weld or similar, Be sure to take a dremel tool and back-gouge the crack both sides at least 1/16" clean the area with some acetone (fingernail polish remover). Actually If your going to have it welded do this also and it will save you a few bucks. I don't have any access to a tig welder or I'd give you a hand.

I did the same damn thing with my weber carb only on the other end with the bolt that holds in the venturi. I JB welded it on the outside and left the inside alone. I figured that it wouldn't really be an issue in my instance because the venturi, the auxillary venturi, and the velocity stacks all slide in there so that the crack isn't even really exposed. With yours being on the other side right at the butterfly an air leak would be more of a concern.
Good luck man!

Also be patient and don't buy JB Quik. **** hardens way to fast. and is crap for any long lasting repairs. IMO
