Bridgeport 12a

Ok so bridgeporting the 12a. What all internals are required. Im going with one peice carbon apex seals, lightened rotors, a weber carb, racing beat header to a straight pipe all the way back, racing beat intake manifold. What else do you suggest, will I need hardened stationary gears? What else will I need to do this right. This is going to be an all track car so it wont be driven on the street and will only be seeing about 2 miles every month, about 8 runs on the 1/4 mile

So you do or do not need hardened stationary gears? And why lightened rotors?

Thats been my problem, finding the damn car to do this too. But alas, i found some lady with a 80 S here who is going to sell it to me for 550, which is really a rip off cause the thing doesnt run, the paint looks horrible, and the keys dont even work in the ignition, she originaly wanted 750 for it but i managed to at least talk her down to that.

So you can rev to some insane RPM and tap the power of the brideport

Yo, bridgeport owner here. Heres mine. Rev's to 9000. Usually never past 8000rpm except when I'm trying to be obnoxous. PS: no stationary gear hardening or mods to the rotors either. Just carbon seals, 93+corner springs. Underdrive pulley for the water pump, fact that it helps power is a bonus.

Would lightened rotors help reliability at all?

If you plan on revving past 8500 RPM, Racing Beat recommends the use of hardened stationary gears. Also they recommend clearancing rotors, rotor bearings, and main bearings. By the way, stick a 13B oil pump from an -SE on your 12a, it's a direct bolt on, in combination with a oil pressure regulator that goes to 85-90 psi. You may be able to get away without the rotor mods so long as you don't go above 8500+ very often, but I strongly recommend the oil mods myself.

Enginebay. Ps: that is a pacesetter, but where you see it, you don't see how it ends under the car. I chopped the collector and ran it back to the rear axle and lengthened the short rear rotors' pipe so they are equal were they collect. Biggest hp gain, even over the Weber. Cool sound, kinda loud though.

Hi WackyRotary, where'd u get those dual air filters from? And, if u don't mind, what jetting are u using on the carb. 48 DCOE, right?

I've got a 12a JBridge coming to my house in 2 weeks and am putting a dellorto on it, and can use some comparison jetting from ur DCOE.

Thanks,
-bp-

Actually thats a 50DCO, they have no choke connectionn on it, but that is irreliavent info, but actually I wish I had that here in MN were its cold right now(~40-60F now in Oct). DCOE, has the choke option. The filters are custom ordered ones from a parts store. Any parts store or particularily a performance shop has a full K&N catolog you can get them for or may have one or two on hand(~$25each). I forget the part number. They don't have any breathing problems and apparrently have enough area to remain flowable for a long time. OH, they they "just fit" and I mean barely. 50mm bore and the velocity stack was a very tuff fit. So much infact, I took the little nuts holding the stacks to the carb to pry them on and finshed off with a hose clamp on each. I never intend to remove the filter from the stack again ever. Just pull the stack nuts to clean them some day.

As for jetting, a dellorto will be a different deal. I have 245mains seem to be best for mine, F11 emulsion, ~220air correctors? <=I had to experiment with them to get the best power. I drilled out two pairs of air correctors with very fine drill bits to get the best results with my bridgeport. Weber jets are VERY hard to get here since Mazdatrix CA and the other few out there that even have weber parts.

I wish someone could tell me were weber parts are sold in Minnesota.

I've got most of the parts I need to go bridgey and a car for it to go into. To keep from hijacking this thread, I started a new one. Check it out and let me know if it's a good idea: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=121250
