Break Caliper off and I dont know what I should do

For 1 week now my passenger rear break (disc) has been screaming whenever I hit the breaks. I thought that the pads were low so I bought new pads, put the car up on jack stands, went to removed the caliper... and it was stuck... I realized I left the parking break on... so I released it, but it was still very difficult to pull off of the rotor...

To my surprise... The old pads still had plenty of meat left on them. But they looked glossy.

Could the pads being glazed have caused the high pitch noise? Could the pad material have been bad (the new ones I bought are "wearever" are those good?). Could the fact that I couldn't remove the caliper that easy indicate it might be sticking (still not sure that would cause the noise though?) or is that how they all are?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

If it's hard to push the piston back in, it may be frozen/stuck. It should compress most of the way with a c-clamp, the last little bit requires tool to screw the piston in the rest of the way.

If the piston is stuck, replace both rear calipers, and the pads since you have them. Be sure to check the rotors for glazing and grooving. It wouldn't hurt to have them turned to freshen them up.

That's another problem. I'm trying to use the C clamp to compress the piston but on the opposite side of the piston is a soft rubber cover and I dont want to damage whats underneath. Is there a slick way of doing this. That rubber cap is affixed pretty complex and underneath are 2 for lack of a better term "bumps" (1 of which is connected to the e brake). Please let me know... Thanks

rear calipers have to be "screwed" in. use some needle nose pliers and twist it CW.

as for the noise, check the brake hardware for any rubbing, like the retainers for the pads.

to scuff up your pads put them pad down on your driveway and rough em up some.

Use an old brake pad to protect the piston when using the c-clamp.

I'm going to start us again tommorow... I think I'm seing things.... (11pm) I turned the pist CW and the pad on that side sits as far back as it can, however with the outer pad in place there is not enough room for the rotor and there is no way to open it any wider... I need to start up in the am again after a goods nights rest... if still the same I'll post pics. Thanks...
