brakes squealing
brakes squealing
im having a problem with my brakes squealing, but not all the time, and mainly when im pushin the brake down kinda hard, like coming to a complete stop
now of course i have changed my front disc brake pads as well as my rear drums, in an effort to fix this squeal
now what could still cause them to squeal if all thats hapepening is the brakes squeasing on the pads? i mean where could i still get a squeal from?
any ideas or knowledge is greatly appreciated!
thanks

My '85 GSL (all wheel discs) squelled if the breaks were wet at all, but only untill they heated up enough to evaperate the excess watter. Any way just a bit of information.
The pads that were in the rear breaks when I bought the car were fairly new, but it turned out that the original owner had the car seviced by a toyota dealer, and well they screwed up when they did a brak job and caused the pads to sit in the caliper tilted and they squelled , untill they poped out of place under breaking, and I had to reverse the car to shove them back in place so I could gimp home and take them out and throw them away.
Any way just two scinarios that might shed some light on your problem
Best of luck man

Yeh I'm pretty sure it's probably just moisture on the brakes. My 85 gsl-se didn't squeal at first when I got it (the past month) Now with this rainy weather inhabiting PA, the brakes have started to squeal on comming up to complete stops.
darn it now today im like squealing every time i stop! it makes my car sound and look so bad, peaple are like starin at my car, and thinkin look at that ****
man i need some help! what should i do??

Did you use disc brake quiet? It goes by other names but it's basically a gooey substance that you coat the back of the pad with before seating them up against the caliper piston. Helps stop the vibration of pad against piston (in conjunction with anti rattle springs)which can cause a very annoying squeel. Mazda used to include it with their pad kits but they stopped for some reason - When I did my first brake job on mine, I didn't use it and had the same problem - the goo fixed it - You can buy it at any auto shop

i would agree with Northern 7. i had the same problem, and did this and it was fixed. also, make sure that all of the 'holding clips' are actually there... as i had a shop replace my break pads once, and they didn't replace the little clips! they squeaked like a biatch!
