Angry brakes

well, in my other post "thought id complain", i changed my brake rotor thinking it would solve my problems, well it didnt.

heres the problem, anyone have an idea?

when i first drive my car, the brakes work like a champ. as i drive it more, the brake will get REALLY stiff, and eventually, start to rub the brake, causing it to slow down. its not hard, but if i keep driving, it starts shaking my car hardcore. ive replaced both brake rotors twice since ive had the car, new master cylinder, flushed the entire system a couple times.. ect. the only thing would be the proportioning valve and calipers. i have an extra caliper, but its for the other side thats locking up. at first it was the drivers side, my dad replaced the rotor, it went away for a week, then started doign it. i know neither rotors are warped.

what i thought it was: warped rotor. everytime that "bump" in it passed the brake pad, it touched it. this would cause the really bad shacking and brake touching on the highway. as it heated it up, it would expand the rotor, causing it to get worse. the left rotor had a HUGE crack in it. the one i took off today only had a blue ring going around the center of the rotor, and on the back side it had a blue spot.

does anyone have and ideas? i have gslse suspension sitting under my house, i would like to just throw it on there to it would eliminate anything that might be causing it, but i dont have rims for it yet. any help is greatly appreciated.

I think your calipers are sticking. When you let off the pedal the caliper doesn't want to release, which keeps the brakes partially engaged.

The pin that the caliper rides on needs to be lubricated so that the caliper can slide freely. Hope this helps

i thought about the calipers sticking, but i dont need to press the brakes for it to happen. the other day i was riding down the highway, and it just started to shake really bad. i tapped the brakes to see if they were stiff, the brake pedal wouldnt move, it was ridding the brakes. i pulled off, let it cool down, and it was fine.

i changed the proportioning valve tonight and took it for a drive. it seems like its better now, but i want to do some more driving before im convinced.

yeah its a caliper problem. If lubing both slide pins doesnt work, consider replacing the calipers. Im not sure how far Richmond, VA is from West Virginia, but i know there a CarQuest huuuuuge warehouse and they have calipers in stock. You can even get loaded calipers and if you bring in your old ones you get money back.

Adjust your brake pedal
Get down and dirty and look directly behind the brake pedal. There is a bolt there to adjust the throw of the piston to the brake master cylinder. Yours might be in to far. Loosen the nut and adjust the piston.

My thoughts exactly. I actually did this to a car I used to own, running that rod in too far and it acted just like u described except not the shaking, maybe I didn't drive it far enough for that to happen. Good luck.
