Brake Upgrade ????

Hey Rotorheads......
Here is my prob..
I did a complete TII brake conversion on my GSL-SE and I am some what disappointed with the pedal feel. I would like input from all of you that have done this to see if I messed up some where along the line...
Here are all the parts I just installed.. ALL items were from a working TII donor car.
Brake booster( dbl spacer btwn booster and firewall )As read on a thread here.
Master Cylinder
Proportioning Valve
Rebuilt 4 Pot front calipers and drilled/slotted rotors
Rebuilt rear calipers and drilled/slotted rotors
Stainless steel brake lines
RE-Speed complete big brake kit and rear Moser axles.

Now my issue is that my EXPECTATIONS were for the brake pedal feel to be firm and high, but in fact they feel some what musshie and the pedal travels half way to the floor before the brakes start grabbing.
I have bleed the system about 5 times and I am using Motul RBF600 D.O.T 4 brake fluid.
If you have ANY ideas please list them so I can try it out.

Yeah... Did that too....
The only thing I question is the double spacer that was listed in that other thread I read before I installed the booster. When I had the old and new booster's next to each other, the overall length where it bolts to the firewall and the push rod were identical to my SE booster BUT yet they state to use 2 of the aluminum spacers versus one??? I just don't understand why if it looked to be the same length...

I have not seen the thread in question so I can not comment on the information.

I do like to use my own eyeballs rather than someone else's, So I would start by pulling the booster system off and checking the pushrod length again. See if one spacer works out for you.

Seems to me though the pedal would be VERY soft if the pushrod was to short. Since it would not be pushing the piston on the top of the travel, just air.

Is the master cylinder known good?

If you push and hold the pedal, does it stop short of the floor and go no further, or does it slowly sink as you keep it pressed?

Is the mushy feel only with the engine running, or is it mushy shut down, too?

All items good... They were on a friends car that was working fine.

Yes it stops. NOT all the way to the floor but closer than I like.

Only with engine running. With car off pedal builds fine and gets pretty stiff/hard to move.
I now I have vacum because my boost gauge always sits around 15 to 20 on vac during idle. I have been told this is good on a street ported motor.

Thanks

Problem Resolved !!!

O.K.
I held off long enough and decided to remove the second aluminum spacer that was sandwiched between the booster and firewall. The SE originally comes with one BUT in a thread I read on here it was noted to install 2 of them for proper spacing.
After removing the 2nd one the brakes are now AWESOME...
They are high and stop the car the way I was anticipating.....
Man am I excited with the TII brake upgrade NOW!!!!
My brakes can now slow down my missle...

Joe,
did you change the Brake Master to a T11 unit?
are they any different? was it a straight swap with no problems?
looking to do the same upgrade soon on a GSL-SE
thanks
Mark
