???Brake lights and hand brake light dont work???

On my friends 85 SE, his brake lights don't work.

1. Checked the obious...bulbs = GOOD

2. Fuse = Good

3. Ok, so I checked the stop light switch. (The one on the pedal)

a. How i tested it, put it on another car that works. = Good
b. Put a good one that I know works. = Nothing

So I looked in the Haynes manual and all i could get from the diagram was that there was a stop light checker, somewhere with in that circuit.

So is this the brake switch? Or is there another switch aside the one behind the pedal?

Also upon looking up the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual I discovered that its also on the same circuit as the EMERGENCY brake, so I turn the ignition to ge the dash warning lights, and sure enough, that warning light does not work either.

Soooooooo......anyone have any ideas.

My final conclusion is that the ground for that circuit is not grounded properly.

Does anyone have a better diagram that the Haynes manual? Or know where the ground for this circuit is? Or is there a plugg somewhere that got disconnected. I know the wire harness runs on the left side for this circuit.

PLEASE HELP! My buddy is trying to get it on the road and wont drive it till it's in proper working condition.

Thank you.

for the brakes, there is a switch above the pedal. be sure the wires are connected. same for the e-brake. there is one wire that connect to the switch below the handle.
